COURT HOUSE — In Middle Township, voters will have their choice of mayors running for Township Committee on Nov. 2.
Democratic incumbent Mayor Susan Atkinson DeLanzo is being challenged by Independent candidate and former Mayor Michael Voll.
For voters, DeLanzo will appear in Column 2 on election ballots, while Voll will be in Column 3. There is no Republican candidate listed in Column 1.
DeLanzo is seeking her fourth term on the governing body. She was selected to the mayor’s post by her fellow committee members in January. She is the first woman to hold that title in Middle Township.
She said she wants to continue her mission to “serve with one purpose, and that is to always do what is best for you, the residents of Middle Township.”
Voll served on Township Committee for 18 years, from the early 1980s to the late 1990s.
He said he wants to bring back to municipal government the values included in the township’s motto developed in his administration — Middle Township, a Clean, Safe, and Caring Family Community.
Both candidates have extensive records on Township Committee that they are proud of.
The campaign has involved some mud slinging from both sides.
In several press releases, DeLanzo’s campaign has attacked Voll on his voting history in Middle Township and Florida as well as his public retirement benefits.
Voll has challenged DeLanzo for not speaking for herself and regarding permit issues with her family business.
The two candidates met at a candidate luncheon at the DeVico Senior Center on Wed., Oct. 13. They also have campaign websites: www.mikevoll.com and www.re-elect-susan-atkinson-delanzo.com.
