Dave DeWeese’s Response to Van Drew’s Smear Campaign

By Press Release

“I find it highly disturbing that our current Senator, Jeff Van Drew, has chosen to publish false and misleading statements about my public service. His attacks are unjustified and without merit. The truth is that I retired from public employment (as a Judge, Solicitor and Prosecutor) after 25 years of service. During those 25 years, I contributed to the NJ State Pension System, and I earned the exact same benefits as thousands of other similarly situated Judges throughout the State, all in accordance with the State Pension Rules and Regulations that were established by the New Jersey State Legislature. I receive one pension in the amount of $40,000.00 per year. I do not currently have any other public employment. There was no “scheme”. I was appointed by municipalities as their Judge because of my excellent reputation as a tough, no nonsense jurist and because of their respect for me. Governor Christie did not make anything that I did illegal. Jeff Van Drew is clearly desperate, and he is once again trying to deceive the voters of District 1. Don’t believe it. On Nov. 8 send Van Drew the message that you are not interested in being represented by a career politician that engages in sleazy and slimy political games.”
