County Democrats Hear Clinton’s NJ State Campaign Director

County Democrats Hear Clinton’s NJ State Campaign Director

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Chairman Jeffrey H. Sutherland, of the Cape May County Democratic Committee, held a committee meeting Aug. 8 at the Historic Courthouse on North Main Street. The guest speaker was Jennifer Holdsworth, New Jersey state director for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
Prior to being appointed state director of the Clinton campaign, Holdsworth served as political director of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee and helped to run the Democratic National Committee convention in Philadelphia. She was recently named the chief executive officer of Celebrate New Jersey Now.
Holdsworth delivered an inspiring address to the committee members, according to a release, and offered assistance in organizing to support Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
The group organized to run the local Clinton campaign appointed by County Chairman Sutherland is being lead and organized by Barbara Wilson of Avalon.
Sutherland stated, “This presidential election is unique with a true outsider and completely inexperienced candidate, Donald Trump receiving the Republican nomination. A large number of national Republican leaders are not only not supporting the Republican nominee; many are making public statements against him and supporting Secretary Clinton.
“I have been contacted by a large number of local registered Republicans who want to support Secretary Clinton. Our organization is willing to work with anyone who wants to support Secretary Clinton.”
The county Democrats are also running two candidates for freeholder, Dan Kurkowski, and John Amenhauser.
“In addition to working for the Hillary Clinton campaign, we have two great candidates running for county freeholder.  It is time for a change and a second voice on the freeholder board, and we have two great candidates to address the issues affecting Cape May County.  One such issue is the county freeholders spending $37 million on a new county jail without properly addressing the plague affecting the region, heroin addiction.
“We need to address the problem and the ancillary crime that results from it by education and treatment – not incarceration.  It is cheaper for the taxpayers to address the problem and hopefully resolve it and reduce the prison population instead of building a large, permanent prison and burden taxpayers with a long-term bond that will continue to have to be paid by our children and grandchildren,” Sutherland stated.
Anyone interested in working for the Hillary Clinton campaign or any local elections should e-mail the Democratic County Committee at ccdemcom@gmail.com.
