Clark Wants Residents to Have More Input

Middle Township Committee Candidate Michael Clark announced today that he supports establishing a Citizens Advisory Council. Clark said he believes it is important to implement a line of communication between Township Committee and the average citizen.
In announcing this initiative Clark said, “It is important that the residents of Middle Township have the opportunity to interact and communicate with their elected representatives in a non-formal setting. Many people can’t always attend a formal Township Committee meeting which is always held on the same night and in a formal setting. I propose having regular informal roundtable type meetings on different days and at different times so as to afford the average person the opportunity to attend.”
“As I continue to go door to door throughout our Township I am finding many residents feel detached from the decisions which are being made by Township Committee. Many people feel decisions are being made because of political reasons and that does not serve the interest of the people.”
“It is important that we put the people’s interest above the special interest,” Clark said.
“For example, several of our residents have expressed concern about the process used to implement the Affordable Housing Program and the hiring practices through which so many of our employment vacancies are being filled with non-residents. There was even one case in which a position was filled by a non-citizen of the United States,” he continued.
Clark said he would like potential Advisory Council Members to submit a simple letter of intent so the Governing Body can include as many residents who wish to serve and have the meetings on different days and at different times with one member of Township Committee who is always in attendance.
