COURT HOUSE — Norris Clark, Morey’s Piers executive and former Republican Assembly candidate, has resigned his position on New Direction, an offshoot committee of the county Regular Republican Organization.
Clark stated May 14 on his Herald blog that he has accepted a position working with state Education Commissioner Bret Schundler.
“Not only does this fulfill a long-held dream for public service, it also returns me to the field of education, where I started, first as a student, then as a teacher,” Clark stated.

My “New Direction”
Today marks an exciting, yet challenging “new direction” in my life. Today I move into public service, and begin working for Commissioner Bret Schundler, in the New Jersey Department of Education.
Not only does this fulfill a long-held dream for public service, it also returns me to the field of education, where I began, first as a student, then as a teacher.
I am also thrilled by the opportunity to work with Bret Schundler, who I have known since 1993 as we helped to highlight his great work as Mayor in Jersey City. Bret is proof that good people CAN be successful in politics!
Finally, we face an awesome challenge in state government, especially in education, as our Governor calls us to a “new direction.” We are at a turning point, both as a state and as a country, and the field of education is largely at the center of the field.
Please stay tuned, as we blog on the field of education. We’ll address parents, schools, teachers and education reform. As Bret said when he asked me to join the team, “It will be fun, but it will also be challenging.”
