COURT HOUSE – Bill Hughes, candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s second congressional district, called upon Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02) to join him in a series of eight open and honest debates. According to a release, this announcement follows a formal letter sent to LoBiondo requesting public debates earlier in the week.
“This country has a great tradition of holding spirited public debates as an important part of campaigns for public office,” said Hughes in a release. “Providing voters a chance to see both U.S. Congressional candidates standing on stage together is a proud New Jersey custom that I am determined to continue. I hope Congressman LoBiondo will agree to join me. I will make myself available to debate him anytime, anywhere.”
“To date, the LoBiondo for Congress campaign has not received a letter from the Hughes campaign regarding debates,” Jason Galanes, Lobiondo’s campaign spokesman said in an email. “That said, we have received a number of requests from venues and groups across the district to host a debate which we are working through. Congressman LoBiondo fully expects to debate his opponents prior to November’s election.”
