DENNISVILLE – Edward F. Beck, a resident and former Dennis Township committeeman announced his candidacy to fill the Cape May County freeholder seat being vacated by Kristine Gabor.
Beck is looking forward to participating in the Cape May County Regular Republican Organizations process to select Gabor’s replacement. Beck is a committeeman of the Cape May County Regular Republican Organization out of Dennis Township.
Beck is employed by the City of Linwood and is a retired Stone Harbor police officer. He also teaches at Atlantic Cape Community College as a senior adjunct professor in the Criminal Justice Division.
Beck has been a resident of Cape May County for 36 years and spent most of his youth on the beach in the Wildwoods. Beck is an active member of the Dennis Volunteer Fire Company, and a life member and past president of the Anglesea Fire Company in North Wildwood. Additionally, he serves as a board member on the New Jersey Victims of Crime Compensation Review Board, the entity that administers payments to victims of violent crimes.
Beck is a life member of the New Jersey State PBA and the former financial secretary for PBA Local 59. He holds an elementary teacher certification as well as a teacher of law enforcement from New Jersey. He has taught in the Pleasantville School System.
Beck graduated from Atlantic Cape Community College in 1994, received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Richard Stockton College in 1997, and a Master’s degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2004.
He is married to Barbara E. Beck, and has a daughter Katherine who resides in New Castle, Del. He is hopeful that he will be able to serve the citizens and visitors of Cape May County as a chosen freeholder.
