AVALON – Three incumbent members of the Avalon Borough Council who are seeking re-election under the Team Avalon 2017 banner officially filed their petitions for candidacy in the upcoming municipal election in the Borough.  Team Avalon 2017 consists of councilmembers Dr. Nancy Hudanich, John McCorristin, and James Deever.  The filing was made in the Office of the Avalon Municipal Clerk March 6.
“We are excited at the opportunity to represent the citizens of Avalon for the next four years to continue smart, efficient, progressive government in our community”, Dr. Hudanich said.  “Our team is committed to providing the highest level of community services possible while also being responsible financial stewards to exceed long term, sustainable projects and initiatives in the Borough”.
Three, four-year terms on the Avalon Borough Council will be filled by Avalon voters in the May 9 municipal election.  The new four-year terms begin July 1, 2017.
“Nancy, John, and Jim represents the management team Avalon needs to ensure the quality of life that we all enjoy in our community”, said Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi.  “Team Avalon 2017 includes three proven community leaders who have dedicated their expertise and talents that results in one of the lowest tax rates in New Jersey, an exemplary AAA bond rating, and new initiatives that keep our community safe, and beautiful”. Councilwoman Hudanich currently serves the Avalon Borough Council as its President and has provided leadership in our community since 1989.  Under her direction, Avalon has secured over $10,000,000 in capital improvement projects funding from county, state, and federal resources over the past year.  Councilman McCorristin has been actively involved in construction, recreational, and environmental achievements and currently serves as Vice President of Council.  Councilman Deever was appointed to the Avalon Borough Council in January, 2017 and continues to serve on Mayor Pagliughi’s Recreation Advisory Board with Councilman McCorristin; he previously served for eight years on the Avalon Board of Education.
