SEA ISLE CITY – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Sea Isle City Police Chief Thomas McQuillen advised the public of a joint investigation being conducted in the 5100 block Landis Avenue in Sea Isle City.
On July 4 at approximately 4:40 p.m., officers from Sea Isle City Police Department responded to the rear of a residence located in the 5100 block Landis Avenue for the report of a deceased male. Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified white male in his late 40’s to early 50’s in an area between two fences at the back of a residence.
An investigation was immediately initiated by detectives from Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and Sea Isle City Police Department with the assistance of the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
Earlier July 5, an autopsy was conducted by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner. The deceased was positively identified as Charles C. Staropoli, 52, from Avondale, Pa. According to the medical examiner, the preliminary autopsy report indicates there were no signs of foul play and the cause and manner of death have been listed as “pending toxicology” results.
Sutherland and McQuillen assured the public that there was no reason to be alarmed of any danger in the surrounding area of the incident, and as more details evolve, further information will be released to the public.
