ERMA – The body of a man was discovered inside his residence in the 100 block of Briarwood Drive in Erma, Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana announced Dec. 3.
On Dec. 2, at approximately 1 p.m., Lower Township Police responded to the residence to check on the well-being of Stephen Fredericks, 54. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered the obviously deceased body of Fredericks.
A joint investigation by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Detective Unit of the Lower Township Police Department was initiated to determine the cause of Fredericks‘ death. The investigation revealed that there were no indications of anything suspicious.
On Dec. 3, an autopsy was performed on Fredericks by the Southern Region Medical Examiner’s Office and the preliminary report indicates that there were no signs of foul play with the final autopsy report pending toxicology results.
