A ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly renovated 8th Street Playground in Ocean City will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 11 a.m.
Immediately following, the Recreation Center at the playground will be dedicated as the “Daniel Lee Henry Recreation Center.”
The ceremonies will be followed by a Neighborhood Fun Day featuring children’s activities, inflatable rides, music and refreshments.
The playground and Recreation Center were totally renovated earlier this year using a combination of city funds and grants.
Grant funding for the project came from the County of Cape May, the State of New Jersey’s Neighborhood Preservation Program and a Community Development Block Grant from the federal government.
The Recreation Center at the site will be formally dedicated to lifelong Ocean City resident Daniel Lee Henry, who passed away in February of 2006.
Henry was very active in the community serving his church, the local Recreation Department and various community and service organizations for decades.
The public is invited to attend the ceremonies and Neighborhood Fun Day.
