People helping People 2/8/2006

By Rick Racela

AVALON – The generosity of the people of Avalon in donating slightly used copies of new books will benefit the Harrison County Library System in the Gulfport, Miss. area.  Some of the county libraries were completely devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The Avalon Free Public Library is sending 50 boxes of books of duplicate titles to the Margaret Sherry Library in Biloxi. Funding for shipping is being provided by private donations and an amnesty collection the library held in lieu of fines.
COURT HOUSE – BTMH will offer free blood pressure screenings from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 17 in the Patient South Lobby.
