Pedestrian Struck by Car

COURT HOUSE — A pedestrian was struck by a car when he crossed the intersection of Route 9 and Mechanic Street, Fri. April 6.
According to police reports the accident occurred when a vehicle, operated by Elaine Rourke-Toth, 65, of Burleigh, was making a left-hand turn from Mechanic Street onto Route 9 South. Rourke-Toth struck a pedestrian, Stephen Atzert, 67, of Court House as he was walking across Route 9 in the pedestrian walkway.
After being struck, Atzert landed on the hood of Rourke-Toth’s vehicle and suffered head injuries. The victim was flown by helicopter to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Responding to the accident were Middle Township Rescue Squad, AtlantiCare, Court House Volunteer Fire Department and Middle Township Police.
The crash remains under investigation by Patrolman Len Larkin, Patrolman Jason Sweitzer and Detective Clint Stocker.
