CAPE MAY – Multiple agencies responded to reports of “objects” in the ocean in Cape May April 1, The Press of Atlantic City reports.
According to Cape May Fire Department Deputy Chief Rick Lundholm, witnesses reported seeing a parachute or balloon-type object in the water near the Cape May Convention Center around 5 p.m.
Cape May Fire Department, along with Town Bank and Villas volunteer fire companies dive team, responded to the scene.
U.S. Coast Guard and State Police Marine and Aviation bureaus assisted with the search.
The search was suspended at dark after nothing was found. There were no plans to continue the search April 2.
Searchers found nothing to indicate a parachute or anyone in the water, State Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Flynn told The Press of Atlantic City.
The incident is still under investigation, the report continued.
