The Middle Township Council for the Arts will present an old fashioned Christmas variety show at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center (PAC), Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.
Price of admission is a canned-goods donation to the food pantry, or a new, unwrapped toy. Either way, it’s a heck of a holiday deal.
Billed as “Christmas at the PAC: A Holiday Extravaganza,” the show will include a live Nativity scene, Santa, and a lot of local performers.
“This is going to be Radio City Music Hall type entertainment,” said Lori Flemming, member of Middle Township’s Council for the Arts. “We’ve wanted to do this for a long time.”
Flemming noted several individuals whose private funding helped the extravaganza come to life, including Nate Doughty, Susan DeLanzo, and Steve Barry. Kay Aspell, PAC manager, donated the venue.
“We weren’t comfortable charging admission,” Flemming said, “ so we decided on canned goods or a toy.”
Some of the many acts scheduled to perform are Sunny M. Tripon, whom Flemming said will do her own take on “We Need A Little Christmas.”
There will be plenty of music, performances by the Middle Township High School Jazz Ensemble and their Chamber Choir.
And 55 Middle School students will perform “The Magic of the Hanukah Candles.”
“We want to touch a chord here,” Flemming said.
Trying to do away with the absence of community spirit that seems to pervade the Christmas holidays recently, Flemming said that the show will touch people emotionally.
The council also hopes this is only the beginning.
“We want the show to grow year by year,” she said.
