VILLAS – Lower Township Police Department wish to thank Eddie’s Auto Body and Blacked Out Tinting, as well as Eddie Cooper, Steve and Heather Lewis, Lonnie Bedell, Martin Rojas and Erik McCarthy for their generous efforts in redesigning and rebuilding an existing patrol car for the Lower Township Police Department’s L.E.A.D. Program. These individuals were also instrumental in collecting donations and fundraising on this project, which was coordinated by Patrolman Eric Coombs.
The vehicle will be featured at the L.E.A.D. Convention in March and will be used for the L.E.A.D. Program, as well as community policing events.
The Law Enforcement Against Drugs Program, also known as the L.E.A.D. Program, replaced the DARE Program approximately three years ago in the state of New Jersey. The program is taught to the sixth graders at Charles Sandman Consolidated School by Coombs and Patrol Officer Jennifer Anzelone.
The program teaches children about the negative effects of alcohol, tobacco and drug use. It also touches on strategies for handling peer pressure, bullying, communication skills, how to deal with emotions and other similar topics that our youth deal with every day.
