Guests can enjoy horse and wagon tours of Historic Cold Spring Village Tuesdays through Fridays. The rides are free with admission and will run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Rides include narrated stories and tales about the history of the Village and Cape May County. The horse and wagon rides are made possible by the Friends of Historic Cold Spring Village, who received funding for the project from a grant from the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
A Standard Bred and Percheron mix, Levi is three-years-old and very happy in his new Village home. When he’s not guiding the wagon tours, Levi resides in the Corson-Gandy Barn, located on the Village Farm Complex. There, guests can visit him before or after wagon ride hours and on weekends.
Historic Cold Spring Village is also home to other farm animals during the summer months. Visitors can feed sheep in the Village corral and watch chickens scurrying around from the adjacent coop. The Village is also home to two turkeys that roam the grounds.
Fun and educational activities for children are featured Tuesdays through Fridays to Aug. 31, as well as weekend events until mid-September.
Historic Cold Spring Village is a non-profit, open air living history museum that portrays the daily life of a rural South Jersey community of the Early American period. It features 26 restored historic structures on a wooded 22-acre site. From late June to early September, interpreters in period clothing preserve the trades, crafts and heritage of “The Age of Homespun.”
Historic Cold Spring Village is located on Route 9, three miles north of Cape May and a mile and a half west of the southern terminus of the Garden State Parkway. HCSV is open Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays) from June 17 to Aug. 31, as well as the weekends of Sept. 6-7, 13-14 and Oct. 18.
The Old Grange Restaurant, Country Store, Dried Flower Shop, Bakery and Ice Cream Parlor are open and located on Village grounds. Admission during the season is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (62 and over) and $6 for children ages three to 12. Children under three are admitted free.
Unlimited free admission is available with membership in the Friends of Historic Cold Spring Village.
