Legion Commander Vows to Stay At Rio Intersection ‘Til VA Acts

Harry Weimar

By Press Release

RIO GRANDE – Harry Weimar, commander American Legion Post 184, Wildwood issued the following statement as a follow-up to the rally calling for local veterans’ health care March 25:
“I am going to be at the intersection of Routes 9 and 47 March 28 at 9 a.m. in the old gas station lot. Any veteran that wants to join me is more than welcome.
“I am going to stay there until the news media and a rep from the Congressman’s (Frank LoBiondo) office or the Congressman himself, plus Senators (Cory) Booker and (Bob) Menendez, also the Veterans Administration, arrive. I will not leave until they agree that the health care for veterans and families should be better for Cape May County and we get a hospital or a better system.
“If you think I am kidding come find out because if you do not I personally will go on a hunger strike till you guys do not think this a joke. I am tired of my brothers and sisters dying and my children getting sick. I sit here watching the fight about Obamacare, the wall in Mexico, who is spying on who; well what about us veterans that gave you the right to do all that, and (Donald) Trump stop the nonsense and start listening to our dying vets.”
According to U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo’s Chief of Staff Jason Galanes, “the Congressman spoke with Harry last night (March 27). As he is in Washington for votes today (March 28), Harry is aware the Congressman will not be able to meet with him today, however the Congressman’s veterans liaison – Mike Francis – is scheduled to meet with Harry later this week.”
