Cape May County Library strives to give the public what they want; therefore by popular request, beginners’ guitar lessons are offered once again to a limited number of adults.
Classes are from 1-2 p.m. Mondays starting July 7 and continuing for seven weeks until August 18.
Class will take place at the Lower Township Public Library, 2600 Bayshore Rd., Villas.
Lessons cover what is needed to know when beginning to play the guitar, from tuning and basic maintenance to the fundamentals of music theory and playing songs.
The materials are presented in an easily understandable manner and include chord construction and learning to read and play the notes in the guitar 1st position.
An acoustic guitar is required for the classroom although all of the material presented applies to the electric guitar.
Class instructor Ben New is a lifelong musician and educator having played guitar and keyboard in numerous touring bands for thirty years.
New studied Music Theory and Composition at the College of New Jersey and privately studied under the tutelage of Dr. Robert Taylor, Robert Wirtz, and Pat Martino.
He was Session Musician at Society Hill Sound Studios in Philadelphia, the Electric Ladyland and Song Shop in New York.
There will be a small non-refundable charge of $6 (due at registration) for the instruction manual which will be handed out at the first class.
No registration will be accepted by telephone and because of demand, only patrons who have not previously attended the guitar class will be considered for registration.
Participants must have a valid Cape May County library card.
