Late winter thaw at the Wetlands Institute

It’s Lunch and Learn Tuesdays at the Wetlands Institute, 1075 Stone Harbor Blvd., Stone Harbor, 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Bring your own lunch; the coffee, dessert, and speaker provided. Just $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers.
• Feb. 17, New Jersey’s First Wind Park with Ken Strait from PSE&G.
• Feb. 24, Delaware River Update with Maya VanRossum, a Delaware River keeper.
• March 3, Offshore Wind Power in Delaware with Kris Ohleth, Bluewater Wind.
Admission to the Wetlands Institute is free for anyone with a Cape May County driver’s license on Thursdays only now though April, and kids with a local adult are free too.
Stop by and enjoy live animal programs at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. plus an aquarium feeding at 3:30.
For those people who have never visited the Institute, or perhaps hasn’t been there in a long time, this is a chance to enjoy a visit for free – which is the Wetlands Institute’s way of helping everyone deal with the economy.

Learn more about this incredible migration with Don Freiday from the New Jersey Audubon’s Cape May Bird Observatory at a covered dish dinner Friday, Feb. 27 at the Wetlands Institute, 6 p.m.
Just $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers plus an entrée, salad or dessert to share with eight people.
Reservations needed by Feb. 26.
Paint like a plein air painter – indoors! – Saturdays, Feb. 28 and March 28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wetlands Institute, with teacher Patty Moses, who will provide beginner and advance students with individual instruction.
Bring several landscape photos and learn to use them as a reference for painting in the studio.
Cost is $85 for members, $105 for nonmembers per day. Reservations by Feb. 24 and March 24.
Join Christina Newdeck for morning and evening classes throughout the week at the institute, with classes for every level. Check the calendar at just-breathe-yoga.com.
The Jersey Cape Writers Group, a popular writers’ coaching group with Ken Hoerauf and Lorraine Vail, meets Tuesdays, Feb. 24 and March 31, at 7 p.m., at the Wetlands Institute.
