The John Walter Cape Community Band will perform at the Ocean City Music Pier, boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, on Friday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5, available at the Music Pier Box Office, 609-525-9248 or at the door.
The 40-member band offers a varied and entertaining program including marches, Broadway tunes, classical, pops and jazz. Members range in age from 14 to 80 years. They are all volunteers.
The popular group has performed in resorts throughout South Jersey and other venues. This will be their first performance at the Music Pier.
The Band was formed in 1996 by John Walter, a talented tuba player from Avalon. First named the Middle Township Community Band, it was renamed to honor its founder following his death.
The band has produced a Christmas album and several other recordings. These will be available at the performance or by contacting Traveling Tracks at www.travelingtracks.com.
