Holiday specials abound at Wheaton Arts

Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center will present a variety of special exhibits and programs this holiday season. Visitors will also benefit from two special admission discount offers and a membership promotion.
Admission Discount Offers:
■ “Senior Tuesdays” — Senior adults receive half off one senior admission ticket. The offer continues through Dec. 30.
■ “Family Sundays” – All children 17 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. The offer continues through Dec. 28.
Special Membership Promotion:
■ Become a WheatonArts Member or renew a current membership now through Dec. 31, and receive a free WheatonArts eco-friendly reusable grocery bag.

Exhibits:
■ “The Handcrafted Gift” and “Crafts of India” through Dec. 31 in the Gallery of Fine Craft.
■ “Treasures From The Collection: Museum of American Glass,” “Tracing The Cultural Roots” and “Tracing The Origin of Holiday Ornaments” in the Museum of American Glass. Through January 4, 2009.
■ “Living Traditions Portrayed: Indian Folk Arts and Crafts” in the Down Jersey Folklife Center. Through January 4, 2009.
Holiday Programs:
■ Through Dec. 17 – Ornament Design Competition designed for adults as well as children. All of the designs will be on display in the Glass Studio.
The WheatonArts artists will create the winning designs on Dec. 20. First prize is WheatonArts glass valued at $500; second prize WheatonArts glass valued at $300; third prize WheatonArts glass valued at $200; and six honorable mention prizes.
All prizewinners will receive their ornament.
■ Dec. 14, and 21 — “Big Glass Sundays” in the Glass Studio.
WheatonArts is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through January 4, 2009. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
It is free to shop and stroll. An admission ticket is required to visit the Museum of American Glass, Down Jersey Folklife Center, and artist demonstrations in the Glass, Ceramic, Flameworking, and Woodcarving Studios.
Adults $10, Senior Adults $9, and Students $7. Children five and under are free.
The museum stores will be open seven days a week from Nov. 28 through Dec. 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The General Store, Christmas Shop, Arthur Gorham Paperweight Shop, The Gallery of Fine Craft, and Brownstone Emporium offer an assortment of handcrafted gifts, personal service, a knowledgeable staff, free packaging, and member discounts.
Gift cards and certificates are also available.
