WOODBINE – The Borough of Woodbine will receive $5,115.97 from the State of New Jersey for a recycling grant.

The funds, based on 2013 recycling data, are being awarded starting this week through the state’s Recycling Enhancement Act.

The recycling grant program is funded by a $3 per ton surcharge on trash disposed of at solid waste facilities across the state. Distribution of grants this year is based on the recycling successes local governments demonstrated in 2013.
“We continue to educate our local residents to the requirements of single-stream recycling as well as to other changes in recycling requirements as these occur, added Mayor Pikolycky. “When we moved our trash and recycling pickups to the same day, making things easier on our residents as well as providing a cost savings, it was our hope that our recycling rate will continue to increase,  in turn  increasing our yearly award, and this has proven to be the case.
