WOODBINE – The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund (HDSRF) has issued a check in the amount of $69,583 for a grant funding additional environmental investigation at the former Hat Company Site located at the intersection of Adams Avenue and DeHirsch Avenue. This will fund a fourth phase of the remedial investigation under the New Jersey Site Remediation Program.
The site was the location of the former Woodbine Hat Company which began operation in 1918 and then the Bradstone Rubber and Adhesives Co. which operated until the 1960’s. Fire destroyed the structures in the early 1980’s and the site is currently vacant and ready for development. Taylor Wiseman & Taylor of Mount Laurel, NJ will continue to lead the investigative work at the site for the Borough.
“I want to thank the NJDEP and NJEDA as this approved grant funding will allow us to work towards enabling the Borough to restore this property to the tax roles as a commercial use,” added Mayor Pikolycky.
