WOODBINE – Woodbine has recently been awarded grant funding for two different projects.
The first, in the amount of $120,000 is from the New Jersey Department of Transportation Local Aid Infrastructure Fund for the Reconstruction of DeHirsch Avenue project. Woodbine had previously received $175,000 from NJDOT toward this project, making this a total of approximately $300,000.
The roadway is a continued extension of the downtown Washington Avenue Streetscape project which has been a work in progress for more than a decade.
This will continue our program of abating the flooding problems caused by inadequate drainage facilities throughout the Borough.
“The Borough and the Cape May County Road Department Engineer are in partnership on this project as well as the CR 550 & CR 638 projects for roadway reconstruction, including stormwater management upgrades,” added Mayor Pikolycky.
The second, in the amount of $35,143.03, was from the New Jersey Transportation Division of Multimodal Services’ Airport Improvement Program, for replacement of a ceilometer and REIL (Runway End Identifier Lights) Unit, which are used in airport navigation.
The State of New Jersey is committed to providing assistance to New Jersey’s General Aviation Airport, such as Woodbine’s Municipal Airport, for improvements to and preservation of the local aviation transportation network.
“I want to thank the New Jersey Department of Transportation for recognizing the importance of both Woodbine’s roadway infrastructure and also of our Municipal Airport. NJDOT has been supportive of our ongoing projects in so many areas of improvements for our community,” added Mayor Pikolycky. “Without its grant assistance, these needed improvements would have resulted in a burden on our local tax payers.”
