WOODBINE – The Borough of Woodbine has made three applications to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for grant funding under its Transportation Trust Program, totaling $947,786.48.
The first application, made to the NJDOT Municipal Aid Program, is for the second phase of the reconstruction of portions of Heilprin and Sumner Avenues.  This will continue a project which was also funded by NJDOT and is now under construction.
The amount requested is $296,556.08.
The second application, also to the NJDOT Municipal Aid Program, is for road reconstruction of Sumner Avenue from Tyler Road to Heilprin Avenue, including the installation of stormwater infrastructure to correct recurring flooding problems. This is the third and final phase of the Heilprin and Sumner Avenues improvement project on the southerly side of town.
The amount requested is $338,656.65.

The third application, in the amount of $312,573.75, is for the Extension of the Woodbine Bikeway System from Monroe Avenue just south of Webster Avenue extending south through Borough-owned property which is being developed as Open Space and thence east along Sumner Avenue to Heilprin Avenue. This extension would lead into and connect with the planned Open Space recreational area and environmental educational park as well as to the Community School site which includes a branch of the Cape May County Library.

“We again thank the New Jersey Department of Transportation for all of their past support for Woodbine’s ongoing infrastructure projects as we implement these much needed improvements and continue to implement the Borough’s overall plan for pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular safety, fitness, and recreation,” concluded Mayor Pikolycky.
