WOODBINE – The Borough of Woodbine has submitted a grant application to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Division of Multimodal Services, for funding in the amount of $128,086.88 for the design of a Transient Apron at the Woodbine Municipal Airport.
The transient apron, if approved, will provide transient travelers with additional parking positions. This will provide three tie-down positions to replace the five tie-down positions to be removed during the construction of the helicopter apron. The configuration of the new apron area will provide 25,000 sq.ft. of new pavement, allowing pilots to operate efficiently and safely during fueling and parking.
With the upcoming construction of a helicopter parking apron, the transient apron will provide additional area for both helicopters and airplanes to maneuver around the apron.
“This comes at a good time while we are seeing an increase in helicopter demand at Woodbine Airport, especially with the increasing Med-Evac activity. This will also put us in a strong position to expand our airport and fuel farm facilities,” added Mayor William Pikolycky.
