Woodbine Library Branch Opens

By Herald Staff

WOODBINE — Freeholders along with the Library Commission and Woodbine borough officials on Oct. 1 cut the ribbon to open the Woodbine Library.
Located at 801 Webster St., it’s the newest branch of the county library system.
The county library contributed $315,000 towards construction, furnishings, computers and other materials. The library is part of a host of improvements at the Woodbine Elementary School including a new gymnasium, school library and computer lab.
The Public Library section is 2,100 square feet, stocked with over 10,000 adult books, 4,000 children’s books, 600 DVDs and 150 Books on CD.
There is wireless access through the library with six Internet computers available. Additionally, there are spacious settings to read newspapers and magazines as well as children’s reading areas.
The Woodbine Community and School Center is a more than $3-million project that represents collaboration between the Borough of Woodbine, the school district, the state, the county, and the Library Commission.
The county contributed $100,000 from the 2006 and 2007 Municipal Public Improvements Joint Venture Program towards the construction of the center.
“This library and facility is one of a kind in the community. It is available year-round for both school and community use. It will greatly enhance the community by offering a significant benefit to the people of Woodbine and the county is proud to be part of it,” Freeholder Ralph Bakley, Sr. stated in a release.
The Woodbine Library will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. For information call the Woodbine Library at 609-861-2501.
