WOODBINE – The Borough of Woodbine has made application to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund (HDSRF) for a grant totaling $199,278 for site and remedial investigation activities at the Woodbine Municipal Airport property. Historical military and commercial uses created areas of concern to be investigated as part of the proposed studies.
Since filing of the original application for this site in 2014, the Borough has met with the United States Army Corps of Engineers to discuss additional areas of concern arising from historic World War II era Navy activities at the Airport.
“If the requested funding grant is approved, the environmental studies will help clear the way to allow the Borough to forge ahead with redevelopment plans in the permitted development areas within and adjacent to the Airport. We thank NJDEP for their consideration in this matter,” noted Mayor Pikolycky.
