WOODBINE — The Woodbine Port Authority has received funding from the Federal Aviation Administration for capital improvement projects (CIP) for this fiscal year, totaling $384,591.
The first project includes engineering design services which will lead to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of a 2,000 foot section of Taxiway A. The ultimate intent of this project is to repair severe pavement distress, protect the pavement section from further degradation, and act as a first phase toward a more comprehensive rehabilitation program.
The second project includes construction services related to removal of obstructions located in the approaches of and surrounding Runways 1/19 and 13/31 so that the Port Authority can better maintain a safer environment for the flying public.
The third project will look at the feasibility of establishing a helicopter parking apron on the airport. As there are no designated spots for helicopters to park at the airport, this study would determine where best to locate a parking apron for helicopter traffic. This planning study also includes assessment of current and forecasted demand of based and itinerant rotorcraft at the airport.
“The airport is awaiting funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Aeronautic Division, for funding in the amount of approximately $400,000 to help leverage these FAA awards,” added Mayor Pikolycky. “I want to thank Congressman LoBiondo for his continuing advocacy for our municipal airport, whose Business Park also serves as the Borough’s economic engine.”
