WILDWOOD CREST ─ Municipal leaders across the Wildwoods are updating their GWTIDA (Greater Wildwood Tourism Improvement and Development Authority) fees. The fees, established in 1993, are paid to GWTIDA by those who operate concessions and other services on Five Mile Beach.
North Wildwood took the first step in updating fees, followed by Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. Borough commissioners introduced the ordinance establishing the updated fees Nov. 1.
Fees are:
• Amusement games – $360
• Amusement ride not subject to 2 percent or 1.85 percent tax – $360
• Beach concession ice cream sales – $220/concession
• Coin-operated machines – $15
• Distributors – $575
• Hair/Cosmetology sales – $95
• Lawn maintenance – $295
• Laundry (commercial) – $2,995
• Marina, 40 slips or under – $400
• Marina, over 40 slips – $675
• Parking Lot, 40 spaces or under – $400
• Parking Lot, over 40 spaces – $675
• Property rentals (meeting the definition of “tourism lodging” as set forth in NJSA 40:54D-3):
1. Apartment/House – $175
2. Separately assessed unit (condo) – $300
3. Rooming house – $675
• Restaurant/bar, 40 seats or under – $400
• Restaurant/bar, over 40 seats – $675
• Taxi (company) – $450
• Water park – $2,995
• All other business/retail, up to 1,000 sq. ft. – $360
• All other business/retail, over 1,000 sq. ft. – $360
plus $38.50 for each additional 100 sq. ft.
According to the ordinance, “any person subject to payment of a Tourism Development Fee whose Mercantile License does not pertain to a fixed locations, shall, upon application, be exempt from payment of a Tourism Development to the borough of Wildwood Crest, provided that at a. . .fee has been paid to one of the other municipalities.”
Evidence of payment must be submitted with an exemption application.
