WILDWOOD – A 22-year-old local man and a 16-year-old female juvenile were arrested and charged with multiple drug charges after detectives from the Wildwood Police Department, in conjunction with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force concluded a two-week investigation regarding the sale of narcotics.
According to police, on Nov. 29 at 9:35 p.m. county SWAT team members, along with the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 230 East Burk Ave. Unit 9.
As a result of the search warrant, police recovered distribution quantities of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) including heroin, cocaine, oxycodone, and marijuana. The substances were pre-packaged for street level sales.
Alvin Mercado-Osorio, 22, an unemployed construction laborer, was arrested on scene. Mercado-Osorio was identified as the registered tenant of the residence.
A 16-year-old female juvenile was also arrested and charged in connection to the investigation.
Both Mercado-Osorio and the juvenile were charged with: Possession of heroin under one-half ounce; possession of heroin with intent to distribute; possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school property); possession of heroin within 500 feet of certain public property; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 500 feet of certain public property; possession of oxycodone; possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute; possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property; possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute within 500 feet of certain public property; and possession of marijuana.
Charges are also pending against the owner of the property for maintaining a nuisance property/disorderly premise.
Mercado-Osorio is being lodged in Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 cash or bond bail. The juvenile was released to her guardian pending the issuance of juvenile criminal complaints.
