WILDWOOD – Wildwood City Firefighters spent this holiday training in Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC). TECC teaches EMS practitioners and other prehospital providers how to respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment. It is designed to decrease preventable deaths in a tactical situation.
The course presents the three phases of tactical care:
1. Direct Threat Care that is rendered while under attack or in adverse conditions. 2. Indirect Threat Care that is rendered while the threat has been suppressed, but may resurface at any point. 3. Evacuation Care that is rendered while the casualty is being evacuated from the incident site.
The course covers the following topics:
1. Hemorrhage control; 2. Strategies for treating wounded responders in threatening environments; 4. Caring for pediatric patients; and 5. Techniques for dragging and carrying victims to safety.
Special thanks to the Southern NJ EMS Collaborative who taught the class.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
