WILDWOOD – The city of Wildwood is currently in the process of implementing a resolution that will request qualifications and proposals for construction, operation and management of a seasonal food and alcohol beverage service facility on the beach.
Various beach bars are found along the coast in other states to draw tourists, and an upscale bar on the city’s beach would be a unique amenity for the city of Wildwood. Commissioners are seeking to offer the opportunity to a private operator in order to construct, operate and manage a facility of this type.
The eventual passing of this resolution will hope to offer both residents and visitors amenities during the season that are unique to the city.
Under the New Jersey State Legislature, the Board of Commissioners deems it proper to use a competitive contracting process for a concession contract for a privately run beach bar.
At this point in time the value of the beach bar cannot be determined as the city is still receiving proposals. The deadline for the submission of proposals is Dec. 12 at 12 p.m.
Mary D’Arcy Bittner, the city’s attorney, requested that this resolution should be reviewed further before passing.
“Under discussions regarding the public works discussion contract for the public beach bar, I believe that it should be further reviewed after the Executive Work Session.”
The resolution was ultimately put to the side at the Nov. 13 commission meeting and will be reviewed again at the next commission meeting Nov. 27. If resolved, a proposal review committee will be formed in order to review the proposals for the future construction, operation and management of the Wildwood beach bar.
