WILDWOOD — This city’s governing body announced Monday that the high-tech Kronos electronic time-keeping Touch-ID system is now fully installed and operational for Wildwood employee’s use.
According to a release, this system replaces Wildwood’s old method of manual sign-in sheets, which were out-dated and unreliable. The Kronos system requires the employee to scan-in and scan-out.
“Manually recording, transferring and processing data into payroll by hand is obsolete,” DeMarzo added. “Errors in payroll processing will be significantly reduced, if not averted completely, and we’ll have an easily accessible database for employee accountability.”
Instead of manually signing in, each employee now will use a quick and easy finger-scan that will work only for that authorized individual. Along with facilitating employee time-keeping, the new electronic system will provide payroll administrators with easy access to time balances, schedules and facility premise reports.
The Kronos Time and Labor Management system is estimated to save the City $20,000 per month for perpetuity. This savings will be seen in labor tracking, numerical mistakes, buddy punching, required shift agreements and accountability; all which are monumental and recurring problems with a manual system. The system cost of approximately $120,000 dollars was based on the size of the municipality.
“Currently, we have approximately 250 employees, and it is not out of the realm of possibility to double that number during the summer months,” Commissioner Al Brannen said.
“Your punch is your paycheck,” Commissioner Edward Harshaw said. “We promised accountability and this system delivers on every level.”
