Wildwood Crest Updates Schedule for Street Construction Project

WILDWOOD CREST – Work delays caused by extreme weather conditions over the winter months have changed the anticipated completion date of a major street construction project in Wildwood Crest, according to Van Note-Harvey Associates, the borough’s engineering firm.
All work on this phase of the project is now scheduled to be complete by mid to late June 2015, weather permitting.
The construction project includes sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water utility improvements; concrete work; road work; and improvements to sanitary pump stations.
The scope of work includes New Jersey Avenue between Jefferson Avenue and Primrose Road; Bayview Drive between Jefferson and Newark avenues; Bayview Drive between St. Paul and New Jersey avenues; St. Paul, Monterey and Miami avenues between Bayview Drive and New Jersey Avenue; outfall line replacement at S. Louis, Hollywood and Miami avenues and Farragut and Rambler roads; the east side of Pacific Avenue between Rambler Road and Cresse Avenue; sanitary pump station replacement at Topeka Avenue, including demotion of the existing pump station; and demolition of the pump station at Stanton Road.
The following is a detailed updated work schedule for each portion of the project:
Utility Improvements
Utility work has been completed on New Jersey Avenue between Jefferson and Toledo avenues; on New Jersey Avenue between Stanton and Primrose roads; on Rambler Road; on Rambler Road between St. Paul and New Jersey avenues and on Bayview Drive between Jefferson and Newark avenues.
The sanitary sewer mains have been replaced on New Jersey Avenue between Toledo and Stanton roads. The sanitary services are currently being replaced in this same location.
Water mains have been replaced on New Jersey Avenue between Toledo and Monterey avenues and between Nashville and Stanton roads.
Water services are currently being replaced on New Jersey Avenue between Toledo and Monterey avenues and between Atlanta Avenue and Farragut Road.
The sanitary sewer force main has been replaced on New Jersey Avenue from the new Topeka Avenue pump station to Monterey Avenue and between Miami Avenue and Rambler Road/Park Boulevard intersection.
The sanitary sewer force main work is scheduled for completion by May 1, 2015.
Storm drainage work is scheduled to commence on New Jersey Avenue between St. Paul Avenue and Farragut Road April 29 and is scheduled to be completed by May 15, weather permitting.
The balance of water main replacement and services on New Jersey Avenue between Monterey and Atlanta avenues is expected to be completed by May 15, weather permitting.
Utility work on St. Paul, Monterey and Miami avenues between Bayview Drive and New Jersey Avenue is anticipated to commence on May 18 and is scheduled to be completed on or about June 5.
Replacement of the storm sewer outfall lines through the utility easements west of Bayview Drive at St. Louis and Hollywood avenues will be completed after the summer 2015.
Utility work on the east side of Pacific Avenue between Rambler Road and Cresse Avenue is complete.
Concrete Work
Concrete work is completed on New Jersey Avenue between Jefferson and Denver avenues; on New Jersey Avenue between Stanton and Primrose roads; on Rambler Road; on Bayview Drive between St. Paul and New Jersey avenues; and on Bayview Drive between Jefferson and Newark avenues.
Concrete work is currently under way on New Jersey Avenue between Denver and St. Paul avenues and between Farragut and Stanton roads.
Concrete work on the balance of the project will immediately follow completion of the utility work (see above for utility work status).
Concrete work on Pacific Avenue between Rambler Road and Cresse Avenue is partially completed. Curb ramps will be replaced on both sides of the street beginning May 4. In addition, deteriorated sections of the concrete gutters on the east side of Pacific Avenue will be replaced concurrently with replacement of the curb ramps. All curb ramps will be made fully ADA compliant. The Pacific Avenue concrete work is expected to be completed by June 26. The east side of Pacific Avenue will be completed first in order to complete the surface course paving prior to the end of June.
A new 12-foot wide decorative concrete promenade (sidewalk) will be constructed at Sunset Lake along New Jersey Avenue between Monterey Avenue and Rambler Road. This work will commence within two weeks and will take about three weeks to complete. The promenade will run parallel to the new curb line on the west side of New Jersey Avenue, with a two-foot grass park stripe separating the curb from the promenade.
Road Work
New Jersey Avenue is base paved between Jefferson and Denver avenues and between Orchid and Primrose Roads. Bayview Drive is base paved between Jefferson and Newark avenues and between St. Paul and New Jersey avenues. Rambler Road is base paved.
Road work is scheduled to commence on New Jersey Avenue between Farragut and Orchid roads April 28 and base paving is expected to be completed by May 15, weather permitting.
It is the intent to have the balance of New Jersey Avenue (between Denver and Farragut roads) by Memorial Day, if at all possible. The road work will closely follow behind the concrete work (see above for concrete work status).
The east side of Pacific Avenue is base paved between Rambler Road and Cresse Avenue.
It is expected that St. Paul, Monterey and Miami avenues between Bayview Drive and New Jersey Avenue will be base paved by June 19, weather permitting.
Surface course paving will be completed in late June.
The east side of Pacific Avenue will be surface course paved in late June following completion of the concrete work (see concrete work status above).
Sanitary Pump Stations
The new Topeka Avenue sanitary pump station is completed, with the exception of minor landscaping improvements.
The existing Topeka Avenue pump station is no longer in operation and is scheduled for demolition in May.
The existing Stanton Road pump station is no longer in operation and is scheduled for demolition in June.
