Wildwood Crest to Hold Public Meeting June 3

By Press Release

WILDWOOD CREST – The Borough of Wildwood Crest will host a public meeting June 3 to discuss its ongoing Oceanfront Management Plan, the borough’s Board of Commissioners has announced.
The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. in the courtroom at Wildwood Crest Borough Hall, located at Sweetbriar Road and Pacific Avenue.
The purpose of the meeting is to inform the community of the current issues regarding state and federal permitting for the borough’s Oceanfront Management Plan, a comprehensive project that includes both short- and long-term management of the borough’s beach and dune system as it pertains to beach usage and coastal storm protection.
This plan is currently under review by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The plan and its benefits will be presented and reviewed by borough officials at the meeting, which will include a public comment session.
Wildwood Crest’s beach and dune system incurred significant damage due to several severe northeastern storms between November 2009 and March 2010.
Borough leadership responded quickly to the problems created by these storms by obtaining state and federal emergency permits that allowed for the relocation of beach sand to protect the community and to eliminate the accumulation of storm water and resultant ponding in the mid-to-back-beach areas.
Much of the sand relocation work was completed by March 2010.
