WILDWOOD CREST ─ “It’s pretty quiet,” Mayor Carl Groon remarked after the brief morning meeting Jan. 6.
The Borough of Wildwood Crest looks ahead to new developments and improvements. Groon also commented on the upcoming municipal website, saying a single website will “be better for everyone.” Instead of separate sites for the various departments, Crest residents and guests will be able to find information from a single source.
With a special election determining the fate of Pacific Avenue medians, and a new logo soon to debut, commissioners have set the course for 2016: forward.
In the absence of ordinances, commissioners moved a series of resolutions. Although 40 in total, the resolutions gave succinct insight into borough matters.
Doreen Corino will serve as borough solicitor until Dec. 31, 2016; Corino thanked Groon and the commissioners for her reappointment as solicitor.
A temporary budget was set as well as a “cash management plan.”
Alicia Belansen, chief financial officer, and Alexa Campilango were designated as “custodian of the petty cash fund for the Wildwood Crest administrative offices.” Capt. Joseph McGrath will also serve as custodian of the petty cash fund for the police department.
Groon accepted his position to “execute documents as guarantors of the lease/purchase executed by the Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire department.”
Groon, along with the chief financial officer, are authorized to purchase a 2016 “custom heavy duty Ferrara Mid Mount 100-foot tower ladder” on the behalf of the fire department.
Under legal matters, a special service contract for counsel was awarded to Louis M. Barbone of Jacobs and Barbone, P.A.
The amount was not to exceed $5,000 from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2016.
Another professional services contract went to South Jersey Technology Partnership for “the performance of computer technology support and related duties.”
Hatch Mott MacDonald will serve as “coastal engineer” and Shore Animal LLC will provide animal control services for the borough. Including the bi-annual dog census, the agreement is not to exceed $8,000.
Finch Brands, the company which designed the new logo and slogan for the borough, will resume its services as designers of an official borough website. Richard Graver of Media Passport will “provide network support and information technology for the Wildwood Crest Police department.”
After resolutions were passed, Groon commented “All of the departments have a piece of this. Nicely done to all.” Plans to “reenergize” the Environmental Commission were also discussed.
