WILDWOOD CREST — The Borough of Wildwood Crest has named Joseph McGrath as its new Emergency Management Coordinator.
McGrath, who also serves as a lieutenant in the Wildwood Crest Police Department, was officially appointed to the position at the borough’s regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners on Feb. 26.
McGrath replaces Thomas DePaul, the borough’s former Chief of Police who retired from his position at the close of 2013. DePaul continued to serve as the borough’s Emergency Management Coordinator until McGrath’s appointment.
McGrath’s duties as Emergency Management Coordinator for Wildwood Crest include but are not limited to the management of borough personnel, materials and transportation needed to mitigate the effects of or recover from natural disasters, man-made disasters, acts of terrorism and other emergency situations. As a local emergency management coordinator, McGrath will also work in concert with local, county, state and federal officials on an as-needed basis in the event of an emergency in the borough.
McGrath has been a full-time member of the Wildwood Crest Police Department for nearly 20 years, joining the force in 1995. He was promoted to lieutenant earlier this year after spending approximately four years as a detective/sergeant.
McGrath, a resident of the Wildwoods for most of his life, is a 1986 graduate of Wildwood Catholic High School and a 1991 graduate of Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
