WILDWOOD CREST – The Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners, at its regular meeting Nov. 26, approved an appropriation of and bond ordinance for $13 million for the purpose providing extensive improvement of the sanitary sewerage system along New Jersey Avenue from Rambler Road to its southern municipal division line at Jefferson Avenue, along with other sewerage improvements in the immediate area.
The project includes the following:
— Street and utility reconstruction of New Jersey Avenue between Jefferson Avenue and Rambler Road; Washington Avenue between Seaview and New Jersey avenues; Bayview Drive between Jefferson and Newark avenues and between St. Paul and Louisville avenues; and Hollywood, St. Paul, Miami and Monterey avenues between New Jersey Avenue and Bayview Drive. This work will include replacement of the sanitary sewer system, replacement and/or construction of the storm sewer system, water utility improvements, replacement of curbs and gutters and reconstruction of the roadway.
— Replacement of bay storm water outfall lines west of Bayview Drive at Hollywood and St. Louis avenues and along Sunset Lake at Miami Avenue and Farragut and Rambler roads.
— Replacement of the sanitary sewer pump station at Topeka Avenue. The existing pump will be replaced and modified to accommodate all sanitary sewer flow in the borough between Jefferson Avenue and Stockton Road. Other work includes the construction of a new sanitary force main from Topeka Avenue to Rambler Road, construction of a new natural gas-powered backup generator. In addition, the existing pump station at Topeka Avenue will be decommissioned, with all sanitary sewage currently pumped at this facility routed to the new Topeka Avenue pump station.
Advertisement of bids for this extensive project is expected to commence in June 2013, with a deadline of bid applications set for July 2013 and the contract awarded by the borough by Aug. 2013. Construction will tentatively begin in September 2013. All work is expected to be completed by May 2015, with no work performed from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2014.
All work will be performed under the close supervision of the borough engineer, Van Note-Harvey Associates.
