Why Hire Anew?

By Camille Sailer

SEA ISLE CITY – At its Nov. 13 meeting Sea Isle City Council moved a consent agenda item, which would not have elicited discussion, to a separate item for consideration.
The resolution was an amendment to its shared services agreement. It encompassed three positions: construction official; fire sub-code official; and conflict sub-code plan review and inspection services to include CRS (conflict resolution services) coordinator services.
Although the resolution ultimately passed, Council member Mary Tighe voted “no” noting, “The city keeps exhibiting a tendency to hire people into these positions rather than use those already in our system.”
