WEST CAPE MAY – Sustainable Jersey announced that est Cape May will receive a Sustainable Jersey Small Grant funded by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH). Since 2009, Sustainable Jersey has distributed approximately $1,407,000 in grants to New Jersey municipalities to help towns make their communities more livable, environmentally friendly and prosperous.
West Cape May will receive $4,000 for an addition of bike racks and signage to increase bike travel to Farmer’s Market.
“Supporting municipalities as they do sustainability projects is a cornerstone of our mission,” said Sustainable Jersey Board Chair Pam Mount. “Grants help ensure that important health and wellness projects at the community level can get done.”
The Sustainable Jersey Small Grants Program is an important benefit for municipalities participating in the program. The funded projects serve as practical and innovative models for the rest of State and make contributions toward the long-term goal of a sustainable New Jersey.
The recipients of this round of grants have projects that provide increased opportunities for physical activity in the community. This grant funding opportunity was open to targeted Sustainable Jersey participating communities based on guidelines established by the New Jersey Department of Health. Currently, 73 percent of the state’s municipalities (411 towns across all 21 counties) have registered to become Sustainable Jersey certified.
