RIO GRANDE – Mayor Michael Clark pedaled his Schwinn, and Deputy Mayor Jeffrey DeVico cruised his Specialized through a blue ribbon at Satt Boulevard July 14 to officially open another segment of the county Open Space-funded bike path.
Shortly after their arrival, Committeeman Timothy Donohue, riding his Jamis bike, attired in a riding outfit and wearing a helmet, met the other committee members at the ceremony.
In about a month, Clark said, the remaining sector south of Route 47 to the township border with Lower Township at Church Street should be opened using Atlantic City Electric right-of-way.
Lower Township’s portion of the project is under construction. When completed the path will link the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to the Cape May County Park and Zoo.
Accompanying Clark and DeVico on bikes were Middle Township Police Officers Cpl. Phil Johnson, Pfc. Steve Novask and Cpl. Gino Castellano.
