AVALON – A number of governing bodies in Cape May County have moved to video streaming their meetings. Avalon resident and activist Martha Wright has been frustrated in attempts to get borough council to move in that direction. “It’s about more transparency in government,” Wright said.
At the Feb. 28 council work session, Wright decided to video the meeting herself. Armed with only her cell phone, Wright streamed a test of the process through a partnership with Citizens Media TV. She claims the first video posted had 301 views by the next day.
Emails from homeowners had convinced her to continue and perfect the process.
“We’ve almost never had even 30 people at a council meeting,” Wright said. Interested parties can view the video at https://www.facebook.com/CitizensMediaTV/videos/1678602368886807/
