Waste Water Ordinance Passes

By Camille Sailer

SEA ISLE CITY – Sea Isle City Council voted unanimously March 12 to approve an amendment to its provisions regarding sewer and water regulations to prohibit the improper disposal of waste and impose penalties for failure to comply.
There was no change in the ordinance from first reading. “These new provisions are something that the state is requiring, and so we are following their direction. We agree that the ordinance will keep our groundwater and wastewater clean,” said municipal business administrator George Savastano at a previous meeting. Exceptions to the ordinance include run-off from car washing and landscaping water; residual salt and de-icing if properly rinsed with clean water; and residential pool discharge. Penalties for violation range from $100 to $1,000.
