STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor Borough Council again discussed the issue of outdoor dining at borough restaurants May 1. Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour said that the issue was under active consideration by the Planning Board.
Outdoor dining has been an issue here for at least two years. It is not without support. The difficulty in passing ordinance changes has stemmed from concern about its feasibility in the crowded and often narrow areas outside restaurants in the central business district.
Davies-Dunhour mentioned one option was the use of an annual licensing process rather than ordinance changes so that any trial of curbside dining could be easily reversed or modified if the experience showed unanticipated problems.
The mayor said the Planning Board engineer would be looking into feasibility issues.
