COURT HOUSE –Members of Middle Township’s newly formed Veterans Advisory Board will be sworn in during tonight’s 6 p.m. committee meeting.
“The mission of the board will be to advise Township Committee on the programs and initiatives we should pursue to improve the quality of life for Middle Township’s veterans,” Mayor Tim Donohue said. “I’m truly gratified by the great interest in this Board. We have brought together a diverse group that shares a common passion—improving the quality of life for the men and women who have selflessly served our country. I know that the Board, under the leadership of Maureen Lozier, will do great work.”
The board will be made up of a balanced mix of veterans from several eras and concerned citizens. Maureen Harden-Lozier, who served 33 years both Active and Reserve in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps, will serve as Chair. Additional members include Ed Dillio, Joe, Griffies, Vince DePrinzio, Allyn Penkethman, Butch Hamer, Francey Burke, Fred Trasatti, and Bill Hawk. Tony Buero and Howard Trout III will serve as alternate members.
“We want our vets to know that their neighbors care and are organizing to support veterans’ causes,” Donohue said. “This group will also work with our local American Legion Post to finalize our application to the County Open Space Board for funds to improve the American Legion property.”
The ordinance to form the board was introduced at the Township’s April 6 meeting. Middle Township’s Veterans Advisory Board will meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Conference Room of Town Hall.
