Verizon Deal Nets $180,000

AVALON – Avalon will improve cell coverage and make $180,000 over five years by selling access to underutilized tower space.
Avalon Borough Council approved the lease of three spots on its municipal tower to Verizon for placement of small cell antennas May 29. The borough will receive $1,000 per month per antenna, making the five-year agreement worth $180,000 to the municipality.
Along with the added revenue, the agreement will increase cellular data capacity in the downtown area which sees an annual spike in demand during the summer.
