CREST HAVEN – Members of the County Special Services School District, Jane Elwell and Michael Palombo, both of Cape May, were reappointed by freeholders to three-year terms that will expire June 30, 2020. The action was taken at the May 9 freeholders’ meeting.
In another personnel action, the board added Jerome Inderwies Jr., of Cape May as a deputy fire coordinator. Those coordinators work from the Office of Emergency Management.
Mary Dozier was appointed to the position of executive director, Office on Aging, effective May 1. She had been assistant director of Nutrition/Senior Center Director.
In other action the board:
- A change order of $11,972 was approved for Hill International Inc. for testing floor flatness, levelness at the under-construction County Correctional Center.
- Supported implementation of the NextGen 911 system, which improves ability to get information from cell phones, which account for some 70 percent of calls for emergency services, according to the Federal Communications Commission. The board further called on the state of new Jersey “to discontinue the diversion of funds from the E911 Trust Fund.”
- Authorized an agreement between the Office of Emergency Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to permit the federal agency the use of county radio networks and for them to access the state’s Criminal Justice Information System, “in the performance of their federal law enforcement duties.”
- Approved land acquisition for $189,900 of about a half-acre of land at 701 Route 9 North in Swainton from William and Barbara Goodwin for Open Space and the County Park and Zoo.
