VA to Host Enrollment, Benefits, and Connection Outreach Event

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE — Representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), along with U.S. Representative Frank A. LoBiondo, will host an event for Veterans to learn more about available VA programs and services. VA leaders and employees will be onsite to help Veterans determine their eligibility and, if eligible, enroll them for VA health care and benefits.
The event will be held as follows:
Sat., April 29, 2017, 1 to 4 p.m., at Atlantic Cape Community College, Cape May Court House Campus, 341 Court House, South Dennis Road
Veterans should bring a copy of their DD-214 to help determine eligibility.
Veterans can also learn about VA benefits they may be eligible for at explore.va.gov.
Over the past year, VA has improved services for area veterans by increasing staff and services at the local outpatient clinics, improving transportation, and strengthening relationships with local providers and healthcare systems so veterans can receive care closer to home when VA cannot provide timely access to health care services or when travel is an extreme burden for the veteran. VISN 4 and Wilmington VA have also been improving communications and outreach with the local community and veterans and working closely with the MyVA Southern New Jersey community veterans engagement board, veterans service organizations, elected officials and other veterans to improve and enhance both health care and other supportive services in southern New Jersey. This event is an important opportunity for veterans and their families to come and learn more about what VA is doing, provide feedback, and to enroll with VA.
This week, VA unveiled a new Access and Quality Web tool to help Veterans know how well their local VA facilities are performing. The information you can find out about the Cape May VA Outpatient Clinic at www.accesstocare.va.gov includes the following:
– Wait times for new and returning patients in primary care, mental health care, and optometry
– A list of available same-day services
– If other Veterans are satisfied with the availability of services there
